In the summer of 2002, exactly ten years ago, the Jerusalem March for Pride and Tolerance marched for the first time in the center of town. From the beginning, Jerusalem Gay Pride took on a unique character and succeeded in bringing together the multicultural population of both the city and its LGBTQ community and combined the political and community aspects of Pride, not only on a city level but on a national level as well.
Since the first march in 2002, we have experienced great difficulties - the restrictions introduced by the city hall and the police, the distancing from the city center, the "march that didn't march" and the violence used agains the community in Jerusalem, most notably the stabbing that took place in 2005. But we have also seen great triumphs: Jerusalem Gay Pride has grown and developed, taking on significance not only in the Jerusalem community but also for the national and global ones. This year, we celebrate the ten year anniversary of the first march in Jerusalem. Therefore, we've demanded this year to march in the city center, in the route that characterized the march in its first years. We will look back on the decade that has passed and ask where we've made progress and what progress is yet to be made. We will celebrate the achievements made by the Jerusalem community and the national one.
In the last few years, we have chosen to mark the date of the horrendous murder in the Bar-Noar in Tel Aviv - an attack that represents a tragic point in Israeli LGBTQ history and an ongoing motive for continuing the community's efforts and activities. It is with great pain that this year we will commemorate this day again. In addition, this year we march on the eve of Tu BeAv (the Jewish Valentine's Day), and we will celebrate the diversity of the community, its pluralism, its respect and its love. This way we make progress by fighting hatred through love!
Together, we have made remarkable achievements in the last decade, and we want this year's Pride to express the strength of the community and its members, its different opinions, its hidden talents and its ideas that have always been part of the Jerusalem community. This year's March puts the community in the spotlight.
As always - the Jerusalem March for Pride and Tolerance is open for everyone - the community members, supporters, from inside and outside of Jerusalem, those who have been marching for a decade and those who are coming for the first time. Come and take a part in the change and the pride that are shared by the Jerusalem community in 2012.

Meeting at 17:00 at Gan Haatzmaut. We start marching an hour later through King George street, Paris square and Keren Hayesod, until we reach Gan Hapaamon, where the ending assembly will take place.
Directions by public transportation to Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade:
Please note - some downtown streets on the March Route will be closed starting at 17:30 so you should plan on arriving early.
Independence Park Central Station:
1. Take the light rail to downtown (Jaffa Center Station), then walk for 5 minutes towards Independence Park
2. Egged Bus: Lines 8, 21, 32 – get off at the "Hamashbir" stop,walk for 4 minutes towards Independe Park
After we're done we'll march to Liberty Bell Park. All streets closed for the March will re-open and public transportation should return to normal.
From Liberty Bell Park to Central Station:
Egged Bus lines 8, 21, 74, 75 to the Central Bus Station
